Privacy Policy
Information we collect
We ask for nothing about you personally: no account, no sign-in, no email capture, no name and no contacts. We operate no server of our own. We do receive anonymous gameplay statistics through GameAnalytics, and anonymous install and advertising statistics through AppsFlyer, both described below, which cannot identify you.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app displays a banner advertisement supplied by Google AdMob. It can also show a full-screen rewarded advertisement, but only after you tap an offer that names the reward (for example doubling offline earnings); you can always decline and keep playing. To select and measure those ads, Google's advertising SDK collects information directly from your device, which typically includes:
- your device's advertising ID (a resettable identifier);
- device and app information such as model, operating system version, language, and the app you are using;
- coarse location derived from your IP address;
- interactions with the ads themselves, such as views and clicks.
That data goes to Google, not to us. Google's use of it is described in its Privacy Policy and in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
You can limit ad personalisation at any time in Android under Settings → Privacy → Ads, where you can also delete or reset your advertising ID. Doing so does not remove the ads, only their personalisation.
Consent
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app shows Google's consent message the first time it runs, and your choice controls whether you are shown personalised or non-personalised ads. You can reopen that choice by clearing the app's data and restarting it.
Network access
The app requests the INTERNET permission and access to the advertising ID so the
four services described on this page can work: Google AdMob fetches and displays ads,
GameAnalytics receives the gameplay events and error reports described below, and AppsFlyer
receives the install and advertising information described below, and Google Analytics for
Firebase receives the usage and advertising measurements described below. Your saved game progress is
never uploaded - it stays on your device - and the app has no server of its own.
Analytics (GameAnalytics)
The app uses GameAnalytics to measure how the game is played, so it can be improved. When you play, the GameAnalytics SDK sends events such as which generators and upgrades you buy, how far you get through the opening goals, when you rebirth, and whether you chose to watch a reward ad. Alongside those events it sends technical and device information, which typically includes:
- a random identifier generated for your install (not your name or email);
- device model, operating system version, app version and language;
- country or region derived from your IP address;
- session counts and how long sessions last;
- reports of errors in the game - the error message and where in the game's code it happened - so bugs can be found and fixed.
This is used only in aggregate to see where players get stuck or stop playing. It is not used to identify you, and it is not sold. GameAnalytics describes its handling of this data in its privacy policy. Deleting the app stops any further events being sent.
Attribution (AppsFlyer)
If you installed Idle Empire after seeing an advertisement for it, we use AppsFlyer to tell which advertisement or link led to that install, so we do not keep paying for advertising that does not work. To do that the AppsFlyer SDK sends:
- the Google Play install referrer - the record of which link or ad store listing you arrived from;
- your device's advertising ID, and device model, operating system and app version;
- country or region derived from your IP address;
- a random identifier generated for your install (not your name or email);
- a small number of milestone events: reaching a new business tier, finishing the opening goals, rebirthing, claiming a reward offer and watching a reward advertisement;
- the amount an advertisement earned when one is shown to you, so we can tell whether advertising the game costs more than the game makes.
None of this identifies you personally, and it is not sold. The consent choice you make in the advertising consent form described above is shared with AppsFlyer, so declining there applies here too. AppsFlyer describes its handling of this data in its services privacy policy. Deleting the app stops any further events being sent.
Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
The app also uses Google Analytics for Firebase, which Google uses to measure and improve the advertising that brings players to the game. It records when the app is first opened and used, the same milestone events listed for AppsFlyer above (reaching a new business tier, finishing the opening goals, rebirthing, watching a reward advertisement), and when advertisements are shown and what they earned. Alongside these it sends an app instance identifier, the random install identifier described above, your device's advertising ID, device model, operating system and app version, and country or region derived from your IP address. None of this identifies you personally, and it is not sold. The consent choice you make in the advertising consent form applies here too. Google describes how it uses this data at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Notifications
From version 1.4.0 the app can show reminders, for example when your offline vault is full or your daily reward is ready. The app schedules them on your device itself: no server or push service is involved, and nothing is sent anywhere to deliver them. On Android 13 and later the app asks your permission first, and on any version you can turn them off in your phone's settings for Idle Empire.
Data stored on your device
Your game progress is written to the app's own private storage on your device. It contains:
- how many of each generator you own, and which upgrades you have bought;
- your in-game currency, lifetime earnings and prestige points;
- your total tap count and the time the game was last closed, used to calculate offline earnings.
This save data never leaves your device. Uninstalling the app deletes it permanently, and it cannot be recovered by us because we never had a copy.
Purchases
Idle Empire has no in-app purchases. No payment information is ever requested or processed.
Children
The app is rated for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app and you want their advertising ID reset, that can be done from the Android settings described above.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects privacy - for example if another advertising network, analytics or in-app purchases were added - this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the effective date above will change.
